And this finding is consistent across 18 major country markets worldwide

A new global survey by market researchers YouGov finds that on average across 18 major global country markets, half of consumers agree with the statement "Advertising isn't as interesting as it used to be."

If advertising is using its ability to engage potential buyers, that's a big problem.

And apparently it's a universal problem as well, because in each of the 18 markets surveyed, persons who said they find advertising less interesting far outnumbered those who disagreed, for example:

  • China: 56% agreed that advertising is now less interesting.
  • USA: 47%
  • Canada: 49%
  • UK: 51%
  • Germany: 54%
  • France: 54%

At 38%, Indonesians surveyed were the national group least likely to agree that advertising has become less interesting.

Data are based on interviews conducted in March 2022 with persons aged 18 years and older, with national representative sample sizes ranging from 514 to 2036.

How could you make your advertising more interesting?

For not much money, you can use Google Ads to do short tests of old ads vs. new ads, in any geographic market, fast and with excellent measurability of results. That would be a place to start.
