MOTT seeking Research Director
The Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism has announced a job opening for a Research Director (Administrator IV grade) located in Boston.
Job in a nutshell:
- Manage and present MA tourism research and data
- Prepare reports and briefings
Duties:
- Manage MOTT research including data analysis, interpretation, reporting, vendor oversight
- Develop and manage trackable research for domestic marketing programs
- Support development of a marketing strategy
- Interpret market research data for MOTT and EOED managers
- Manage regional tourism grant funds
- Track key data and report monthly
- Manage research and data vendor contracts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred (But see below)-
- Knowledge of data collection
- Able to prepare technical and statistical reports
- Able to analyze and interpret statistical data
- Knowledge of market research techniques
- Able to understand (etc.) how MOTT works
- Able to write understandable reports
- Able to make presentations
- Able to supervise people and run an office
- Proficiency in MS Excel
"Preferred" qualifications (i.e., extra credit):
- 2 years full-time market research experience
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint
- Knowledge of tourism industry data sources like STR, Omnitrack, Tourism Economics
"Minimum" qualifications:
- 4 years full-time (or equivalent) of professional, administrative, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, etc., etc.; OR
- Any "equivalent combination" of Certificates, Associate's Degrees, Bachelor's Degrees, Graduate Degrees or Doctorate Degrees - according to a complicated formula (See the Announcement.)
Salary: $75K - $90K per annum
Reporting location: 1 Ashburton Place, Boston (McCormack Building, near Government Center T)
