Rekabet Kurumu has fined Google 196.7M lira and set 6-month deadline for changes

Turkey Competition Authority Rekabet Kurumu said on Friday that it is fining Google 196.7M lira because the search company has violated the terms of fair competition and was "abusing its dominant power in the market" making it difficult for companies to appear in searches unless they buy advertising space on Google.

The Competition Authority also ruled that Google must ensure active competition by making any necessary changes to its way of doing business within 6 months, and for 5 years make annual reports on compliance measures taken.
