A new report from Valencia ES-based travel trend trackers Forwardkeys shows that as of mid-October, US inbound travel bookings surpassed 70% of 2019 levels on news of US reopening to international visitors in November.
On 20 September, when the Biden administration announced that the US would reopen in November without quarantine to fully-vaccinated international visitors from the UK, Ireland, the EU, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil, US bookings jumped:
- 185% from the EU
- 83% from the UK
- 71% from Brazil
On 15 October when the specific reopening date of 8 November was announced, bookings jumped again a further:
- 100% from Brazil
- 26% from the EU
- 15% from the UK
A Forwardkeys spokesperson expressed optimism for a further "steep increase" in US bookings for the December-January holiday period.
