Irish Ambassador to France Geraldine Byrne Nason, along with representatives of Tourism Ireland, ITIC, and several Irish tourism businesses, launched Ireland's 2017 marketing plan for France at an event in Paris attended by French operators, agents and journalists.

France is Ireland's #4 international tourism source market, with 2016 visitation expected to top 500,000.

Key elements of the 2017 campaign include:

  • TV ads supported by digital and co-op advertising with transportation partners
  • Promotion of coastal routes:
    • Wild Atlantic Way
    • Causeway Coastal Route
  • Promotion of living history sites, Ireland's Ancient East, Dublin and Belfast city breaks
  • Increased PR efforts:
    • Online media
    • bloggers
    • workshops
    • fam visits
    • IFTM show

Unless something goes terribly wrong with Brexit, for 2017 the island of Ireland should have a competitive advantage in the French market on account of its reputation and recent history as a safe, welcoming destination.
